The Value in a DIVA Consultant...

For some reason our generation believes that you have to 'make time' to give back when in reality giving back is something that we MUST make time for! 

The babies that we witness being loud on the bus & disrespectful at the mall, the ones cussing and being ghetto as they walk down the streets and (the utmost disheartening) the young lady pushing the stroller with a baby on her hip are ours essentially.......our cousins kids, our friends kids, our sisters/brothers kids or the 'I grew up with their Daddy' kids.  Yeah Yall...they are ours at the end of the day. 

That's where Diva Consultants come in!  We are every day women who choose to share our trials and triumphs from where we are at in our lives with young ladies where they are are at in their lives.  We don't put on a mask like we got it all together.  We are transparent to them so that they can see that YES this life is hard but if we can get through it SO CAN YOU!  We share with them tools that we currently use to make it through our daily trials and triumphs!  (If we were to wait until we got it together we would have to come back from the dead!!!!!!!!!!)

These babie are ours and our DIVA Consultants are dedicated every Saturday from 10 - 12:30 p.m. at the Sumner Library to sharing breakfast, hot topics, laughter, tears, lunch, as well as, resources, speakers and words of wisdom with young ladies who just want some conversations on how we as every day women are making it happen!

          Self-Worth, Academic Success, Financial Literacy and becoming published authors are what the young ladies participating in the 2009-2010 programming year of Project DIVA have to look forward to! 

          The thirty young ladies of Project DIVA that have committed to hanging out every Saturday with each other are amazing in all kinds of ways!  According to how they defined themselves with one word this past Saturday was as follows...

      ...they believe that they are...nice, compassionate, loving, faithful, unique, confident, confused, and (among other statements) beautiful and extremely smart young ladies.  I wish someone would argue with that!!!

           Together with the young ladies, we as sisters look forward to a year of trials and triumphs, tear and celebrations...so please continue to check back from time to time (and tell your friends!), as well as, support our DIVA-fabulous program!

What is a DIVA?         

Now, of course everone has different criteria for bestowing the title of DIVA on their own chosen few.  Our criteria (and it is our criteria which counts…as this is our site!) are simple – Dignity, Integrity, Virtue, and Availability!

These values have to come with a tad bit of extraordinary personality, the desire to be all that one can be, a sprinkle of setbacks and most of all the endurance to hold your head high, put on your lip gloss and keep it moving!  These are the young ladies who will represent Project Diva and whose images will be shown to all that visit our site!
